my sister just bought a 2002 Z24 about 5 months back. the car had 105k on it when she bought it. now has 111k on it. i do the oil changes for her on the car. she keeps saying the oil light comes on when she goes around a corner. so ill check it and it will be low. i looked there is no leaks there is no blew smoke coming out of the muffler also. this oil change i changed the filter back to AC delco and the oil is mobile clean 5000 5w30 i want to see how it burns this oil and if it does better i was thinking of putting fully synthetic oil in the car for now on. if it burns this oil like it did the other times where can i look to see where the oil is going? next weekend i want to pull the plugs out and replace them with new ac delco ones. could she have bad plugs? the car runs great and starts right up so im not sure whats going on. the motor is the 2.4l twin cam with the 5 speed tranny
Well oil is going someplace, blue smoke is typically most noticeable when starting from a stop, not just idling, you may not even any.
As far as leaks go, how hard did you look, these valve cover gaskets go bad a lot
Bad plugs dont burn oil, but can give a good indication if the engine is burning it
- 2004 Cavalier - 124k, owned since new
honestly that oil is too thin for that engine with that kind of mileage....
i would suggest going with 10w-30.....
