Check Engine: Code P0171
Saturday, March 27, 2010 12:49 PM
Anyone know what the affects of an o2 sensor failing are? Seems my car is too rich for the o2 sensor and burnt one up in the exhaust. Started richening up after installing the Walbro 255. The code says it could be one of three things:
1. o2 Sensor Defective
2. Ignition Misfire
3. Fuel Injector Problem

Could the new fuel pump cause one of these three?

"Vroom."
"Yo I wouldn't race him, there's not even an interior in his car man."
"Vrooooooom PSSSSHHH!"
"Oh sh*t. F*ck that, dude..."

To lean, would be an air leak someplace most of the time, intake tubing, intake manifold gasket, injector o rings.

On the flip side, if an injector was stuck closed it would also give the lean code, but you would also have a misfire.

O2 sensor, not likely, would needa scan tool to monitor switching rates, not some cheap Actron, I'm talking Modis, Tech II, Verus
