Water draining onto drivers floor

Got my 99 z24... And this is really making me scratch my head... thinking its gotta be a design flaw so maybe others have experienced it...

Whenever it rained... my floor would be soaked... I always assumed it was just my boots, or maybe a hole in the floorpan... so its been really nice out so i took my mats out, vacuumed it dry... But it rained last night... I havent moved my car or gotten in it.... but my floor is soaked again...

Now nothing else is wet... so its not the sunroof or window.... Im thinking it has to be coming in through the door sill and under the carpet.... anyone else had this and has an easy fix?

I know its simple... But with the weather turning again, i dont want to start ripping things out hunting for it...

My friend has a 98' z22 coupe and she had a problem like you are having, her leak was across the top of the door seal then dripping on to the floor along the rocker panel area.
You should check to see if there is a slight gap between the rear upper portion of your door and the weatherstrip to the roof.

I had a small leak on the upper part of the driver's winshield and it would trail down the A-pillar, passed the computer and end on the floor. I thought it was the sunroof but infact was a windshield seal on the inside.
Put a hose all over the roof or where you think it may come from. When you find it, let it dry well and add windshield silicon to the location.

actually think i may have found it... sort of.. same area tho! it just would of just missed the seat and the door (which is why i was looking lower)

Just took the car out to the store... as the water shifted off the roof, it dripped on my left knee... off the a-pillar trim... it just would of just missed the seat and the door (which is why i was looking lower). took a look and could see water inside the weatherstripping that appeared to be coming from where it rests on the screw... Cant really see where its actually entering tho, i dont see a gap or anything...

ahh well... easier fix i suppose .. running a bead of silicon under there should do the trick... thankfully its supposed to be nice all week so i can slack on it while the floor dries out.. haha

I'm having a windshield leak. I thought my fender seam under the wiper fairing was the culprit. So I bought some body seal and resealed it. No luck ,next good rain and water sitting on the floor. Anyone ever remove or reseal the window? I cant seem to get the trim to budge off the vertical edge to run a bead on it. I'm driving around with the interior trim all removed and the carpet out and dried out. Not going to reinstall it until the leak is resolved.

its not really something you can do yourself.. me and a buddy tried a few years ago... about 5 times... lol
Removal of the windshield is fairly simple, as is the actual seal... however... you'll never get it to seal properly, it always leaked worse then it originally did.. you might have better luck, we didnt really know what we were doing... But it really seemed that without the actual suction cup brace thing they use, it'll never go on right... its too heavy and awkward to do by hand..

But im still trying to figure the leak out.... the other day, i noticed the trail of water coming from under the drivers door right below the speaker, But i've had it actually drip on my leg from the top of the a-pillar trim...

damn leaky POS... hahaha.... doing the bodywork on it in the next month or so, hoping i'll figure it out once i have er ripped apart a bit...

The tubes that drain the sunroof go from the four corners of the sunroof assembly down the four corners of the car... the front A-pillars and the rear C-pillars. The tubes can clog... or get old and crack. If you run water at the sunroof area with a hose... and it starts pouring in... that's likely the culprit.

never thought to check the sunroof... seal seems good but that does make sense given i've had it drip from my drivers a-pillar, thanks John

However.. i did notice one place... right at the top corner of the windshield... i'll get a picture once i get my ass dressed.. lol... But it seems like a clear channel for water to enter... i can pull back the little trim piece and see right down the side of the windshield...

of course.. it has dawned on me that these cars may just leak... alot... from many places... I think what im gonna do today since its supposed to rain pretty good.... im going to wad up a bunch of paper towels and stick them in every nook and crack i can find.. then see which are wet... hopefully that will let me narrow down the point of entry..

ok... many thanks... that IS it now that i was looking for it.. that channel must be blocked or broken front drivers side... The water is entering the cab where the hood release is, so its running down the pillar.. and i could see the puddle of water in the sunroof channel...

so.... the question is.... how the hell do i get to that tube??? lol... and where does it run to?

good lord... it really just dumps water right onto the door sill.... gotta love GM engineering.. lol...

needless to say... found it... right in the door jam, near the top door hinge.... it wouldnt drain the water i poured in the drain tube, couldnt figure it out so i left it to eat... come back and look, i see one drip of water on the end of it, so i pull the knife out and poke it... all the water pours out... must been plugged right at the end...

I just cant believe they designed it that way.. No wonder so many GM cars have rust at the bottom of the door / rocker panel
