1998 Z24 Engine Wiring

Hi guys....hopefully i wont get flamed for posting this without utilizing the magic search box, but i have a small issue that most likely can be solved by someone with a good deal of knowledge of the 1998 cavalier z24 ld9 engine wiring...i have swapped an old engine that had a rod knocking out for a basically new 2.4l out of a pontiac grand am or prix (not sure exactly which one...but the engine only has 17k miles). anyways, i got the engine put in and i diagramed and labelled everything u could ever think of....with the exception of ONE wire. and of course its the one biting me in the ass right now lol...it is a standard 2 pin plug, the same style as every other 2pin plug on the engine...the wire colors are purple and yellow. all i need to klnow is where the hell this thing goes...the car runs without it but my speedo and transmission are having issues...the speedo just doesnt work and the tranny revs really high and doesnt shift out of first until i go past the regular shift point and lift off the gas....this is my first engine swap and aside from this its all going amazingly smooth. i know its easy to find a wiring guide but internet searches yeild nothing but guides that are either for the 2.2l or an unrelated car (i.e 2.4l pontiac solstice). any help is greatly appreciated in advance....help me finish up my first engine swap on a good note!

Is it possible for you to snap a pic of it?

* This shows where the wire comes from...directly from the main bundle of wires directly below the intake and between the radiator

* Heres just a picture of how long the wire is...its length would play a factor in where it goes because why would a wire that attaches to the front of the engine need to be so long? maybe this will help locate its origin.

* and finally here is an upclose pic of the head of the wire, along with the two wires it holds which are purple and yellow...just so theres no guessing.

Hope this helps!

yeah thats what i was figuring...since my speedo doesnt work then the ECU cant be in sync with the tranny to tell it when to shift....which would explain both issues. its just ive been over the engine more than a few times and just cant seem to find its home lol so i was hoping someone with more knowledge than me would look at it and go "oh yeah it plugs right here!" lol...but hey, thanks for trying

i recognize the tab.. im pretty sure that one goes under the engine, the tab connects to either the water tube or the oil pan and i cant remember if it hooks to the backside of the engine or a wheel speed sensor. i will look at mine tomorrow to be sure.

Looks to me like it goes to the sensor above the oil filter. Not sure what it is for off the top of my head. Coolant level shares the same plug and I belive so does the IAT. Il have a look tomorrow if you havent figured it out by then. I have a rats nest of wiring but everything is labeled

That's the Vehicle Speed Sensor... aka the VSS. Goes to the transmission, by the axle I believe. Been awhile since I had that automatic
