I am going to have to sell my sunbird, and I was wanting to get some advise on how best to sell it.
It has a broken windshield from a hail storm 2 weeks ago. I was, and still might go ahead and put a new windshield on, then try to sell it.
I am just not sure how much its worth. It runs ok, it does have the power issue going up a hill, and now the code reader is saying something totally different than it did last time I checked it.
Code 33:
MAP sensor- signal voltage is high during engine idle. (Note: engine mis-fire or unstable idle may cause this code).
Last time it was saying that the voltage was too low, now its saying its too high.
Anyone got any suggestions?
I am going to sell it, but I really would like to find out first whats wrong, and try to fix it first.
Thanks a bunch!, Julie
Just to advise you the code 33 can be either the MAP sensor with a vacumm line and electrical plug, or the MAF sensor mass air flow.Just pointing this out because both run off vacumm and do affect idle, power, and effected by temperature. Not sure what the value would be check with kelly blue book online for reference.Good luck.I'd bet one of the two are your power problem and even a good tune up would probably fix things as they should be.
I kind of wonder if the sensor is bad itself, or could it be one of the lines to the sensor that is bad.
I really would like to fix it right before I sell it. Not really to make more money on the car, but I would just feel more comfortable selling it in better condition, and not selling it to someone like it is.
Who knows, I might just decide to keep the car, and use it as a second car. I really like it, and hate to get rid of my autographed hood! (Sammy Hagar autographed the hood of the sunbird in 2003).
Thanks, Julie
