Hi, i just bought a LD9 from a friend, i'm putting the engine in my car right now, everything was going great until i put the front pulley in, the engine stop turning, it is now very hard to turn any idea ? i checked the compression twice before i put the engine in the car, was turning freely, i changed the timing chain and turned the engine twice.....
well this should be in maintenance....
did you attach the belt ... if so could one of your accessories be locked???
if not ... could the pully be damaged causing the motor not to turn
no belt, no converter, took pulley back off, unmount p/s pump and coolant pipes to make sure. Do you think i badly reset the chain tensioner?
i cant see how the tensioner should be the problem... its spring loaded, and you pop it out to create tension... i will assume its a new tensioner though...
so you have the pulley off and the p/s pump off... so theres no load here... you don't have the spark plugs installed do you... putting the plugs in will create compression and it will be harder to turn on the compression stroke of each cyl.
if you don't have the plugs in, rip off the timing chain cover, check to make sure your timing marks are still aligned. if they are check the chain and the guides, make sure nothing is foobarred...
if thats all good, i'd say tear the cams back off, and see if it turns... this will tell you if its a head bind or a block bind... from there you'll have to see which component of either the head or the block is binding, but it should be easier to localize once you know whether its in the head or the block.
have you ever had issu with blancer chain ?? that's the only thing i touched in the engine, was loose and i re-adjust it ... btw sorry for posting at the wrong place
