Well today is hot as hell. Almost 100 degrees. Anyways, I was driving in my Cavalier as a normal day. Went to take care of business then went to go eat. The whole day I had the A/C on. Anyways, I arrive home and I turn off the engine. The fans near the radiator were still on. I was wondering has this happened to any of you guys and it is normal for things like that to happen?
I find the Ecotec engine weird in many ways, but this is the weirdest occurrence to happen yet.
Happened to me. I thought it was weird at first, mainly I was concerned with the battery running down. But, when I came back to the car everything was fine. I've only had it happen to me once, but I just figured that it was normal. A hot engine needs to cool down somehow.
doesnt click for me, if the car is off the coolant wont be flowing, so having the fan cool down the rad fluid wouldnt cool down the engine at all :S if it isnt draining battery, then i wouldnt worry about it, but it doesnt make sense to me
its NORMAL all cars do it especially when driven long distances or in high heat with ac etc. since ur water pump isnt pumping the coolant to cool off the car the fans do it. they also will do say in city traffic when the temp gets to high the relay turns on to power the fans to the temp is brought to normal specs. dont worry it is totally 100% NORMAL. Thats why the fan is there period.heck my boat has a fan that runs off the crank since it sits in a box more or less with no air flow the fan runs the whole time motor is to keep cool.
Thanks. I noticed it did it every time it was humid outside and I ran the AC. I never had a car that did that though. My old 96 never did that and my Jeep never does that. Whatever keeps that Ecotec in top condition though lol.
Definitely normal. Ive had several cars that do/did it...04 Cav, 99 Malibu, 89 Firebird...possibly others but those did it for sure.

It's completely normal. Nothing to worry about.
