Hi, I'm having some issues with my car. basically whats going on is at idle on occasion it will sputter and drop the rpms to around 450-500 and then jump back up to 600. it does this until i get going and then usually it might do it a couple more times and then it stops. also it'll do it when i have my ac on at idle but much worse. then when I'm on the highway and i punch it it will sputter like hell and go forward but skip as it goes. its a 2.4l with magnaflow hiflow cat, 2 1/2 inch cat back exhaust dual outlet. its got a cheapo intake. the ignition is brand new except for the icm (new plugs, boots, packs etc.) also its got a new alt, pcm, and starter, and battery is still fine. also have a new gas tank and fuel filter. i tested the icm and its perfectly fine. please help. thanks

Have you tried any injector cleaners, or seafoam?
Clogged cat maybe?
Bad gas?
Pluggs not gapped right?
FPR bad or going bad?
It sounds like you and I have the same problem. When I drive down the road with my 2000 2.4 it hesitates in gas and sputters. No one is able to figure out what is wrong with it. It has been doing it for 3-4 weeks now and my boyfriend said this morning that it does it bad when the ac or defrost is on. He has run seafoam through it and it is still doing it. I have had the computer reset three times. The morning after the seafoam was put in, it started revn real high when it gets cranked in the mornings. If you are able to figure out what is going on, please let me know. What is this fpr that you are talking about?
Are you referring to the fuel pressure regulator? I found out yesterday that mine may be due to a bad coil.
Same issue here. Swapping out to 2.2 coils later this week
well i just put a new fpr in it and still doing it... i don't know what to do its irritating me. sadly i have brand new coils, new plugs, new everything and the icm is testing fine. it does it only when I'm heavy on the gas or with just the ac on or at idle sometimes. it doesn't always do it at idle either just sometimes. the coils, plugs, boots, and the (i forget the name) the white thing that connects the coils to the plug were all replaced in Feb. it seems like a fuel issue not spark. maybe i need a new fuel pump? trying to find out because i don't have too much money at the moment.

i'm having similar issues with my 99 2.2. My girlfriend drives my car now and i went to take it to get an oil change yesterday. i noticed it was idling kind of rough and as i left work to take it to the shop for oil change it seem to be sputtering alot and almost stalled while at a stop sign. (girlfriend said it has stalled on her a couple of times...now she tells me). Only thing i can think of is bad fuel pump, injectors or sensor, but since you cleaned yours and sensors are new than fuel pump seems to be the only thing i can think of. btw, dude at the shop said the coils were fine. starts right up so not thinking it's a spark issue. making a few phone calls, if i find anything out i'll be sure to let you all know.
Try a 10 dollar fuel filter. Mine was nasty as hell 55k miles.
