2005 cavalier 75,000 miles: i left the headlights on at work and it kill the battery last night, i got a jump box out hooked it up jump started the car and it reved up to about 2500 rpm and stayed there for about 5 seconds witch seemed odd because it have never dont that before but i figured it was because the battery was dead the altinator was tring to catch up. i turned on the a/c on the way home and everything seemed ok, then later on in the evening i went to the store and when i turn the a/c on at idle the a/c clutch engages and bogs the motor to the point of shutting down but will restart with no issue, if i turn the a/c on while driving it will run but takes away a lot of power. this morning i started the car and all was fine it would idle with the a/c until i drove about a mile to a gas station, i went inside and shut it off and when i came back out it and started it with the a/c on it wanted to die again, i took it straight to advance auto to test the battery and altinator, both tested fine. i read on another web site that when a battery dies in this car that some times the computer has to be rest by gm, and i also read that there is a sensor in the t/b that may need to be cleaned. any other solutions?

update: i went out on my lunch break and started the car up and the a/c worked flawlessly and the car idled fine, after letting it warm up and shutting it off for a few minutes then going back to restart it with a warm motor the a/c is trying to kill the car again.

My first guess is the IAC isn't operating properly to control idle when the A/C is turned on. Could need cleaning or computer isn't doing it's job to open the IAC valve.

check for a bad ac pressure switch, minesorted and stole the 5v reference from the map and tps, killed the whole car.

my a/c compressor went bad i had same thing happen to me car shut off when u turn ac on.
