ld9 problem
Saturday, June 12, 2010 5:33 PM
I took my 99 z24 to the track last night and on my last run I starting leaking oil. It was hard to tell exactly where it was coming from but I pulled the dipstick out and there was almost no oil in the car at all. When we took the oil cap of the engine it was blowing air out. Is that back pressure because a piston ring went? Underneath the trans was covered in oil but the flywheel was dry. I was able to put oil in it and baby it home last night and as far as I know it didn't leak out at all. No knocks from the motor either. If anyone knows what the problem is I would greatly appreciate the help. I need to get the car running well again ASAP

Every since I switched to synthetic in my 99 z its been doing the exact same thing, every time it revs over 3000rpms its leaks oil like no tommorow. When I first noticed it there was oil all over the engine on the drivers side but after cleaning it up I've noticed that the leak is coming from in between the cam towers and puddeling up around the spark plugs. Check to see if your oil sending unit is leaking first, I've changed mine twice because they were leaking. But mine is still leaking bad when I drive it hard, not sure whats causing mine though, but check the oil sending unit first.

Check the oil sender,it might be leaking there,or the cam towers.

most likely the lower gaskets under the cams. ive seen 4 sofar have them. ld9 is a leaky motor. i at onetime poored oil from the pan seal.
also how did u see the flywheel?? thats inside between the trans and motor lol. ur mostlikely leaking at one or more gaskets.
