My crankshaft seal has gone. Is this something thats hard to do? Do you just take the crank pulley off and take off the seal or do you need to pull the oil pan off?

Thanks in advance

Yes you need to remove the pulley, and your going to need a puller to get it off. Then you need to remove the black timing chain cover that sits behind it (the seal is on this cover). Its got I dunno 15-20 10mil bolts holding it on. After that you can use a seal puller or just use a screwdriver and drive the old seal out. I try not to damage it too much because I like to use the old seal to drive in the new one. Make sure you put a little silicone around the outside of the seal and some oil or a bit of grease on the inside of it before installing. Hope that helps.

On second thought I guess you dont really have to remove the timing chain cover if you dont want to. Its easier I think though if you do. If you have a seal puller and get crafty I think you could just pry the seal out and tap a new one into place. Just make sure its square when your taping the new one back in. You can also use a large socket that fits the seal to drive it back in or a peice of wood sometimes works. Good luck
