when i first start my car the oil pressure is pritty high. as i drive the car i noticed that at stop lights or when the car isnt moving the oil pressure drops below the middle mark and the electric gauge follows. for some reason when the car is at normal operating temp the oil pressure drops below the middle mark and stays one line above the bottom line (1/4) and im pritty worryed if this is normal or if there is a problem. the pressure returns to normal when i press on the gas pedal. the car has a 2.0 engine with fuel injected carb. i use 10w-30 oil and even tryed 5w-30. also when i first start the car i hear a tap coming from the engine. i think it is a valve tap but it goes away if the car has been runing for a while and gets warm. i was woundering if this is a big problem or what it could be.

LMAO , fuel injected carb ? WTF
think you mean a TBI
sounds like a lifter is bleeding off when sitting and pumping back up after it fills back up when its been runninf for a while , or it could be a loose fitting piston in the bore and need to heat back up to fit with out making noise , if its for sure the lifters , its a cheap but time consuming fix , if its the pistons its better to live with it , as its not gonna hurt it unless it gets alot worse
Dude. Are you just posting in wrong area or what? Mods keep locking your theads for some reason........
Your WHAT hurts?
it sounds like your car is 25 years old. Oil becomes more viscous as it warms allowing it to drain back to the pan quicker than it would when it's cold. as for the lifters, they are hydraulic meaning they are filled with oil. it takes a minute or two for them to 'pump up'. I have a suspicion this is the only polite response you will receive.....
