Im not real familair with clutches, but (and its just a guess here) maybe ur throwout bearing is going bad??? Maybe somemore insight to this?? I would even look into a new clutch. They do go bad, and there isnt much to them.

Throwout bearing. Only gets worse with time

If it was the throw out bearing it wouldn't happen when he presses down on the clutch. You would hear it when it's out of gear with the clutch let out.

the only time it really happens is when im going like 2-10 miles per hour, with the clutch pressed in, and step on the brake hard

it could be something loose in there, ive had springs from clutch hubs pop out on me and it makes a grinding noise pretty bad when the clutch is in, if you have the know how, pop the tranny out and have a look, otherwise, id say drive it for a bit and see if it gets worse before shellin cash out

I am not 3rd knowledgable but a clutch issue is pretty common overall. One way to see if the clutch is going is to literally wind out the car in each gear meaning go as fast as it will go in each gear and see if it (slips, pauses, etc) this will normally give you a idea if the clutch is wearing down and in need of replacement. And the throw out bearing failure is normally associated with noise ALL the time until you push the pedal in (it will make noise in neutral as well).Just as a humor moment check your clutch resevoir level and make sure it is not low on brake fluid since it is a internal part and may leak fluid onto the clutch components. It would not cause a grind, but I would check it none the less.Hope this helps and just keep a check on it and do not let is get to the point of total failure when ur out and about.

sounds like a good idea... HOWEVER! if it is the same thing that happened to me, practice rev matching cuz when it DOES get ugly, which it will if thats the issue, youll find yourself out of gear and not able to use your clutch sooner or later lol.
