Airpockets in the coolant system that is. Im ready to fill the car with fluids, but I want to make sure there will be no airpockets later on. I heard with our cars that you fill it where you want your levels, then let the car run with the Cap OFF the resovior(sp) for a couple of minutes, this will let the air escape. How true is this?
Thanks.

Theres bleeder valves somewhere I just cant remember where. 2 of them IIRC atleast on LN2s. Just crack that open and idle it under the coolant starts flowing out.
Yea I think thats just the LN2, at least I have never seen one on my LD9 and all the times I have had it apart lol.

Yup, have the cap off, start the car, let it warm to operating temperature, monitor fluid level while squeezing the upper hose a little to work things around.

i don't know of any bleeder valves in the 2.4 system, but i have heard of them on the LN2's.
you've got the rite idea with what you've heard.
heres how i've done it in the past. i keep the front of the car raised higher than the back. my driveway works well for this, but jackstands will do. i fill the system as best i can through the hoses and such before i fill the res. then i fill the res up to the level and start squeezing hoses to get as much of the bubbles out of the system as i can. refill up to level, fire it up and keep squeezing hoses until the level evens out and stop seeing bubbles. let it get up to temp and close the cap and let the fan kick on.
i've never had an overheating problem after bleeding a cooling system like that. unfortunately i've had to do it a few times, lol.

C2- thanks man, will do.
Jon D- Thanks, ill do all of that as well. I think I had a lot of air in the system last time I did this which caused my over heating problem 2 years ago. I want to get it done right this time lol.
Thanks guys.

Oh well Im useless. Carry on.
idk if im too late but i just put a large container underneath the car to catch any fluid and start the car with the cap off the resevoir and let it run 5-10 minutes, then shut it off put the cap back on start it up again and its good to go unless you open the system again. I do that with both my eco and my 98, since my main bleeder screw on my 98 had the head sneap off and there isnt one on my ecotec thats easily accesible. idk about squeezing any hoses i never do that and never ahd any problems after either.
Anytime I replace or drain anything in the cooling system I just refill the system and let it idle for a good bit with the cap off. I have done that on my 2200 (did not realize it had bleeders) and do it on all the large diesel engines I work on. Actually CAT tells me to fill their motors at no more than 5 gallons per minute and to run it without the cap off for 10 minutes and its good to go.
