There is excessive engine movement from the worn out rubber insert. I want to replace it and know how. But not sure if I should get something aftermarket or go with an oem insert. My main concern is I don't want to increase noise and vibration at idle. What is the main difference between RK Sport and others. Is it just stiffness of the insert?
Wheres the best to buy one, I'm in Canada.
I haven't used any aftermarket ones, but I know "performance" motor mounts WILL cause increased vibration, because it doesn't allow as much slack, so that more of the torque goes to the wheels.
Even just putting in the rksport insert into the stock mount is going to add some vibrations at idle..... especially with the AC on. Especially on a 2.2L.
Ofcourse you also get improved throttle response. The RKSport insert is only a few bucks or so..... I'd try that, and if it's too many vibes..... well not much money or time lost by taking it out.
Ive heard urethane mounts will vibrate worse if you dont do all of them (engine and trans). Im not sure why its true but Ive been told this by a few people.
I've got the RKsport upper and stock lower, the vibrations are barely worse than stock. I had the RKsport lower mount but I put the stock one back in because the vibrations were crazy.
As far as feeling a difference, I didn't but you can't beat them for the price.
Don't you have to buy a new oem as well as the aftermarket? Or can you just install the insert as is?

No, you can use the OEM mount with an aftermarket insert.
Anyone know where Online to buy the OEM rubber insert for the upper mount of a 2.2.
rockauto, I ordered one from there, the OEM rubber insert isn't just drop in, some drilling is involved, couple holes in the bottom of the mount iirc.
I've only ordered a few times from RockAuto but I *love* their catalog with all the pictures. I ordered some OEM 2.4 trans mount from them..
