okay, so i replaced the serpentine belt, the tensioner is still good, theres still a rediculously loud squeaking noise...i am convinced it is the power steering pulley, that is where i hear the noise from, and i can see it wobble just a tiny bit, nothing major....heres my question, should i just replace the pulley or whole pump and all? my steering works fine, would replacing just the pulley stop this noise? or could it be a bearing in the pump
Unless you're talking about a car other than the one listed in your profile.... your power steering pump (on a 2.4L Twin Cam LD9 engine) is on the end of the intake cam... not driven by the belt. So I have no idea what you're talking about.
yea sorry i now have the 2.2ohv, not 2200 or 2.4....but also i forgot to say one thing that gets me is that if you spray water on the belt, the noise goes away for a second, then comes back....belt dresser didnt last, it changed the noise for a little, sometimes goes away, but once that stuff drys out, its back and its loud, goes up with the revs....btw the belt is 4 days old, tension is perfect
Fyi, belt dressing is the absolute worst thing that you can use on a serpentine belt system. The stuff gunks up the ribs of the belt, and will actually make squealing worse. I suggest replacing the belt, while u have the old one off check all the pulleys for any roughness or play. Also, clean all the pulleys off with brake cleaner. That belt dressing gets everywhere and will quickly mess up a new belt.

no like that belt is 4 days old, the old belt i never sprayed with anything, this one mchanic said its the auto tensioner, when there is load, the tension loosens, but when its off, its good....that makes sense?
Replace the tensioner....
even tho when car is off, ther is plenty of tension?
Yes, replace the tensioner. And while you're at it, replace the idler pulley if the vehicle in question is equipped with one.
