I just put on a water pump, timing chain & thermostat on my 01 z24.
Today i drove it around alot and the engine temp gauge would stay way under normal 195 range. Mostly between 130-150.
and the heat doesnt seem to be very hot, jsut warm.
What can be causing this?

Where'd you get the thermostat from? Could be faulty out of the box. Ive seen some people go through 4 or 5 before they got a good one. Napa's are reputably reliable.
idk where my dads friend got it from since i wasnt there when he put it in.
Is the thermostat the problem? or could it be running alot cooler since all this stuff is new? I would think not though...

Definitely try another thermostat. I've personally gone through 3 on one vehicle before getting a good one.
okay so I was jsut told that they supposely is a service bulletin on cavaliers about this,
that they run too hot, which wtf, i dont think so, so ppl drill a hole or 2 in the thermostat i believe so more water flows through.
Anyone heard/done this?

You were also just told to get a new thermostat. If you don't wish to have the advice on how to correct the problem, then just live with the problem and don't ask.
