I had the car towed to firestone and they said that everything look ok according to there diagnostic tool for electrical purposes. They cant find any problems. Its been cold here in fla and car wont start. It has plenty of juice and power from the battery but wont kick over and start. Dont know what to do. I have changed out the plugs cleaned tb any help or ideas would be appreciated thanks. Car has over 100.000 miles on it.
Try antart the car, then while cranking, hold the accerator to the floor. Does it start if so does it stall the min you let off the throttle?? If so your Idle Control Valve is bad. If not keep going. Get some starting fluid, and spray a little into the intake while someone is trying to crank it. Does it start? If so you your having fuel issues, and you will need to check and see if ur fuel pump is working. This can be done by locating the fuel valve on the fuel rail. Looks like a tire valve. Remove the black cap and press the little valve down. Does anything come out? If yes, then ur more then likely having a injector problem (not very common) if no then ur fuel pump is probably bad and will need to be replaced, also you should replace the fuel filter while ur there. If the car doesnt start up after spraying the starting fluid into the intake, then you prolly have a spark problem. Then at that point it can be ur ignition coltrol module, or your coil packs. Im not really sure of a way to check those other then just swapping with someone of the same vehicle to see if it works. Also for a set of coils for out cars (2.4's) coils are about 60 for the set at Autozone, and from what I know or heard they are better then our stock ones. Either way try that and post back. Goodluck!
OHHH also do you know if you have any check engine lights?? If so what are the codes. From your post I cant tell if thats what you meant by the electrical diag. tool.
Thanks for replying,
Its weird, there is no service light on display and now the cars starts fine. Seems like does'nt like the cold though. Its like it has a mind of its own. No codes goin off and there is now fuel pressure and plenty of battery juice.
Well, glad it works! Lol.
