As I was coming off the highway my ABS, Service Wrench , and traction off lights came on, this is on my 2001 Z24. I am thinking it is probably a wheel speed sensor. Can I scan the codes with an OBD2 scanner?
Abs codes need a different abs scanner, you can borrow a normal scanner to read the service lights ,find the codes and clear them but it does not do anything for abs nor do they lone one for that.
I have had a few abs faults and believe it or not I have just unplugged the abs module with the battery disconnected and re plugged it in and no light came back on for months. It was prob just luck but its worth a shot. If the light comes right back on you prob have a bad fault with the system.
Are you driving in snow? Mine constantly do this in the winter because snow and whatever else gets on them. If you go to a car wash and just wash ur wheels really good, it should take care if them
your BAS codes need scanned by a stealership
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
ok i will try to wash the wheels, its becoming intermittent. I shut off the car and all the lights turn off. As I am driving I feel the ABS engage to one wheel and then immediately the dash lights up. My next step will be to look at the connections quickly then it will be off to the dealership for a scan. I will end up replacing the sensor myself.
ok so today I didn't have the light come on at all , I think it has to do with the fact that it is warmer. I washed the wheels today too and cleaned out the dirt from around the suspension area/brake area. I noticed however that my passenger side brake pad is more worn down than the drivers. I'm thinking that this is the side that has the problem with the ABS since I would have the ABS engage when I driving on the highway. It would engage for a few seconds then turn off along with all the lights. Is the wear a good indicator of the side of the ABS problem ?
