Lifter/Valvetrain noise when cold

1995 2.2LOhv 100k miles, cold weather, cold starts....idle sounds fine but when i give it gas, the valvetrain sort of knocks, NOT like a rod knock, i know what those sound like....the noise goes away completely when the engine is about halfway warm, maybe the type of oil i'm using? using now - full synthetic 5w-30 should i be using 0w or 10w? i dont drive it with the noise, i usually let the car idle until it's almost warm ten drive it

My 2200 does it also. I think many of them do. My old engine and new engine with 40k miles on it both did/do.

i've heard right before an oil change, pour as close to a quart of atf as you can without severly overfilling the engine and let that go through the engine for a few minutes(5-10) then an oil change, and it works wonders on lifter noise. never tried it myself. my lifters are not making noise yet(crosses fingers)
