Confused!

I have a 99 Z24 with the 2.4 and decided to use it for my winter car. It had cold air intake running down into the front right bumper with a 9in cone. One snow started to fall the cone began to such up snow, salt ect (all nasty @!#$ on winter roads). My check engine light came on and i notice that it started to idle/run extremely rough. I would sometimes experience a hesitation when i would begin to move and let the clutch out the enigine would sputting and hesitate and i have to rev up to around 3000rpms and it finally takes off. After plugging my car in at the shop the code reader said it was the air intake temp sensor. So i rebuilt my intake and moved it up into the engine bay, washed the cone, and preplaced the sensor. It ran better for a little while, but not its running rough again and hesitating sometimes, but the check engine light is off now. I would really appreiate some suggestions as to what may be causing this issue. I am by no means an expert and am still learning as much as possible (This is my first car i have built) so im learning as i go. Please post any ideas and not just talkin @!#$ about how big of a noob I am
Thanks

Since you rebuilt the air intake, was the throtle body dirty? if so clean it and the IAC valve also, both very easy to do. The next probable cause I would suspect is the damn coil cover.

I agree ^^ Re check your intake parts, relocating the intake to engine bay is a good idea.. I personally dont think "ram air" through the bumper is necessary with these cars, theres just as much air flow under the hood, and just as cold. Clean the stuff up.. thats a big thing, i need to do it too.. and those coils are a joke on the 2.4's.. mine is converted to 2.2 ignition with remote mounted coils and wires ran under the cover. Much better system. Have your coils checked and see if they are fine, i would look into the swap if i were you. Good luck, hope this helps!

thanks, im planning on cleaning out the throttle body and checking my IAC tonight but one things that i had forgot to mention in the forst place is a wierd substance coming up out of my oil breather filter its a light tan color and iv never seen it before, and is almost a little foamy, could this be a result of poor fuel/air mixture or the IAC?

Foamy oil means coolant, or water in your oil. Check it on the dipstick, see if it's foamy in there. If it is, Change your oil right away.
