Headlight switches keep burning up

I have a 97 Sunfire GT 5spd. Every 4 months or so the headlight switch burns out. The low and high beams dont work. the DRL's and marker lights operate normally. I have replaced every bulb, fuse, and relay related to the system, the same problem continues. I can replace the switch and everything will operate normally again then die again in a few months. Any insights on the problem?

sounds like a short to ground somewhere in the circuit before the relay. excessive current draw through the switch will kill it like you're saying, and if not fixed, would happen again and again.

How would I go about tracking that down?

trace all the wires from harness to harness.

relay them, by an HID relay harness and rewire them. It wouldnt be that hard. They should have been that way stock.

I tracked down all the ground wires and all of them appear to be in good condition still. Any other suggestions on the potential problem?
