Hey there durning a snow storm we had her today in nova scotia my 98 sunfire2200 let me down coming home from picking my daughter up.
I was driving the car for 1hr in the snow before she let me down.
here is what took place; just looking to see if anyone had a simular incident or know what could be my issues, any help would be awesome.
I picked my wife up from work, driving to our sitters in a snow storm, car working great; took an houur to get to the sitters, drove in her driveway wich took me a few trys as the snow was a little deep but soft and fluffy; and my car is lowered; got in and we went on and picked our daughter up and whe i started the car up my batter light symbol was lit up on my dash, so i put the car in reverse and i noticed i had no power steering; anyways i had to get home as i left the sitters street and started home through the subdivision i noticed my abs light was on then i noticed my temp gauge was really high, started pulling over and there was bunch of noise fromk under the hood; shut her off and poped the hood and noticed my drive belt was lieing on the ground snapped in two; and there was coolant pooring out from under the car; so i got here home by driving it and shutting her down when the gauge climed up; so now i am stuck with what thehell happened.
There was alot of snow packed in my the pullies..
i still have collant in my reservour, i moved all the pullies by hand; so they are not ceased' its the cooant issues i am worried about; hopeing its a hose or something minor; but did not have achange to jack it up and look yet as its full of snow and very wet..
any ideas or help would be great and apprecaited

My guess is that when your serpentine belt broke it may have cut a hole in a coolant line or punctured a hole in your radiator. I would immediate area for any damage to your coolant system.

Once the snow gets out of there, take a look. Im willing to bet there is nothing wrong other then the belt let go, and since you were running her hot, the coolant spilled out of the bottle and onto the car and such. If all the pulleys worked, and moved easy, then I would put a new belt on it, and start it up looking for leaks. Im willing to bet nothing is wrong, and its just since you drove it home with no cooling in it at all, that it was very hot, and boiled out of the overflow tank like it was suppose to do. Goodluck!
Thanks guys for the help.
I did not check her out yet; buddy of mine is coming over this evening to have a look with me.
I hope you are right and its just the belt or the belt and a hose.
That makes sence as i drove it for an hour so it would be nice and warm; then the belt must have broke in the drive way of the sitters; then there would be no belt spinning the water pump pulley no coolant circulating and the gauge went up and the coolant dumped..
But i did not see a dump line on my reservoir?, just two lines going in, could the dump line for the coolant be elsewhere?
The reservoir still has coolant ; will hopefully find out tonight whats up
Thanks fellows

Find out where it's leaking and fix it....That simple.
Temp climbed because there was no belt spinning water pump.
Belt probably slid off from the snow/wetness and spinning so fast and only slipping off one pully made it snap which probably hit something to make it now leak.

It sounds just like you popped the belt, heated up the car, the coolant spilled out. There should be a spill line right close to your cap. If its not there, there is at the least a nipple. Put a new belt on, and run it, you will find out right then and there if you hit something to hurt it. That will tell you if or if you didnt hurt a hose or whatnot. Again, i think you just over heated the coolant since it was not turning because there was no belt on it, and it got hot enough to over flow. I dont care how fast your belt was turning, it would take alot to hurt a radiator hose. Not saying it doesnt happen, but its very rare. Usually you will only see a small mark on the hose itself, and not a cut. Throw a belt on and run it, then that will tell you where, if any, your leak is at.
Hey there, well it turns out th car is working fine after putting a new belt on; no leaks as of yet.
ran her the other night in the drive way twice, bring her up to operating temp., no leaks, and took her for a drive yesterday around my area; works great; so i believ mike's theory is correct; the coolant got so hot and boiled out or blew off; thanks mike(sneezy) and ever one else..
