Hey all...
I bought a re-man 2.4L engine for my 1999 cav and I am in the process of putting it in. I took the old one out in pieces, took the cams off, then the head and eventually, after finding the issue with the last engine, the block. Upon attempting installation of the new engine, i am finding that space is in short supply. I am having an issue getting the engine on a threaded stud about 3" long coming out of the tranny casing. I just don't know how to resolve this. I'm close to cutting the stupid thing off. Any suggestions or advice would be great.
Thanks
Remove the stud. It shouldn't be threaded in very tight. If it were me, I would remove the transmission and reinstall everything as a complete assembly

^ what he said, engine and tranny going in as one piece is so much easier
Update : The engine is in. Thanks for the advice. When I disconnected the engine from the tranny I had it resting on a jack and lowered it down onto a jack stand. I jacked the tranny back up and was able to get the engine to mate up with the engine without further issue or having to remove the stud and I had plenty of room in the engine compartment. I was simply trying to drop the engine way too low to reach the tranny. I should have been raising the tranny, not trying to get the engine lower. But running great now! Actually wasn't that hard once I realized what I was doing wrong. Again, thanks for advice!
I don't know how it did it, but I did lower the engine onto the trans without even looking with the stud still in place. I guess I've done that way to many times.
