leaking coolant from block?

1995 sunfire 2.2l, i will get pics up asap but my car has been leaking coolant for quite some time now, i can see on the front of the engine looks like where the headgasket would be coolant has been leaking out there, then running down the engine and stopping near the bottom of the inlet pipe for oil.. Im assuming it is my headgasket is leaking out? Ive never had overheating problems in 2 years, no power loss from engine, car still runs pretty smooth, little rough idle sometimes but minor. ill get pics asap but im just curious as to what you think? I been doing alot of research and havent come up with much

Had that problem on my 96 2.2 My car didn't run all that bad either besides the rough idle sometimes. The only thing is it'll eventually blow all the way through and mix with the oil and then you'll have even more of a headache.

from windsor ontario, i know it looks bad right noe but honestly i noticed this leak 2 years ago.. And i figured it was the head and was just gonna let the engine fry and swap it out, that was not the case... Had no probs at all in 2 years.. and ive added only 2 fulls jugs of prestone in that time, just buaght my third.. But since its holding strong and now money it getting tighter, i figured ill save the engine if i can lol, ive got people who will do the work for 400 to 600 dollars which is good considering canadiantire quoted around 1500 lol..

Headgaskets are pretty straightforward on the 2.2 and if you have reasonable mechanical ability and a torque wrench it shouldn't pose a problem. You do stand a chance of water and oil mixing if you don't take care of it though. This can be done in a day or a weekend, but I prefer to have a head sent out to be pressure tested and surfaced. I did the headgasket on my '94 and it was shaved .006". Are the people who are offering to do it for $400-600 gonna check/surface the head? I say eff it, grab a manual and do it yourself. Start spraying the exhaust studs with PBlaster now. When it comes time to pull the head I like to pull the studs for the intake and exhaust, easier getting head in/out to me.

LN2 headgaskets are quite simple to do. It's a 6-pack job honestly.

Biggest thing is making sure it isn't cracked or warped.

Yup... thats one of the joy's of an engine with an In block cam... head work is MUCH easier.
