Don't know if this is the right place to post this but recently my cavalier has been having a weird issue where it idles at about 1400-1500rpm. When I installed the m45 and got it tuned my tuner raised the idle to 1000. For a while it was fine started up normally and drove ok. But now when I start the car up cold the rpms go up to about 3000 before dropping down. When driving the car cruises forever, not like it used to. It doesn't acclerate but I can keep off the gas pedal and the rpms stay steady at about 1200. I checked for vacuum leaks and couldn't find any. Has anyone had an issue like this I don't know if it is a sensor or vacuum leak
Sure sounds like a vac leak to me.
Do you get a CEL?
-Check for a disconnected hose
-Check hoses if cracked around the TB
-Clean the inside of the TB and see if the TB plate is closing correctly, even a slight opening can trigger the RPMs to shoot up
-Try disconnecting the negative on the battery over night to reset the car
Good luck.

ive had this issue three different times before
Once time it was the breakbooster line: it got a crack in it while i was at the dragstrip, the second time it was the tps, third it was the iac.
just make sure to reset your battery after you change anything.
You can reach under the blower and unplug the sensors after the car is warmed up, if you unplug the tps and it drops back to a regular idle you have located your problem.
You may as well pull the TB and clean it with some carb cleaner too

thanks for the input guys. Today I checked all of the vacuum lines, pulled the throttle body off and cleaned it with some brake cleaner and reset the computer and the issue is worse! Pretty sure its a vacuum leak. I ordered a new throttle body gasket and will put it on tomorrow to see if that fixes it. There is no CEL but I will pull the TPS and IAT and see it that does anything. I have had nothing but vacuum leaks after installing the supercharger >:o
Well turned out to be the TPS... unplugged the sensor with the car running and the idle dropped right back down to normal. Thanks for the help!
So I thought that I fixed the problem but I did not. replaced the TPS and the high idle is still thre. The car still idles perfectly between 1400-1500 no misses or sputtering at all. The strange thing is I unplugged the new TPS and the idle dropped back down to normal. Does anyone know why this is happening?
