Good day all, I have an Electrical problem!!
So here it is: Im driving along in my 02 cavy z24 and out of no where my headlights turn off and switch to daytime running lights (and there is no bump on the road or anything that intiates it). In order to correct the problem i have to flicker my headlight switch while turning on and off my wipers, after doing this for about 5 seconds repeatedly the problem corrects itself and the lights turn back on. Now I need to mention a few things like when the problem happens, the wipers work but move very slowly, and when I switch the headlight switch on and off I hear the power door lock mech. making some noises. So after i do the flicking maneuvers and the problem corrects itself, everything including the lights the wipers and the door locks, work fine. One final thing to mention is my keyless entry stopped working about a month or two ago, when the whole problem began. I googled some stuff online and found that maybe it was the combination switch so I replaced it, that didn't fix the problem. I then realized that once in a while I get a sevice engine light, so I put a snap on code reader on there and got a reading that said: DRL stuck. So I replaced the DRL relay, that didn't fix the problem. After reading through some of the forums on this site, I now have a feeling its either the BCM or maybe the PCM, so I went to the junkyard and picked up a BCM and Im going to get it flashed and installed probably tomorrow.
Im wondering if anyone has experienced this problem, and/or wondering if im headed in the right direction. Any help would be very much appreciated
check your grounds... and please post in the correct forum... i will move this for you
Okay sorry about that. Can you please go over which grounds exactly, Im guessing the ground attached to the battery carriage?
So I took the ground off the battery carriage, as well as the 3 or 4 grounds mounted to the engine block, cleaned them up and it didn't fix the problem. Im going to take the steering wheel off again and check out the three harness's that connect to the combination switch for a ground fault.
