Ok so my 04 cavalier ls 90k started making a rattle noise under the valve cover so i look on line and youtube videos to see if anyone else had this problem and with a little looking around i found multi videos of 2.2 ecos with almost if not the same noise. people said that the timing chain tensioner was the culprit. a few day later it got loader you could feel a slight vibration in the steering wheel so today we took off the valve cover and was about 3/4 of a slack between the cams but with a little turn with a adjustable wrench it went tight again so we went to orileys auto parts and bought the new style tesioner we used a metal coat hanger to stop the guide from falling when we took the old one out. we then put the new one in and now its making more noise then ever. when u turn the wheel it makes a kind of hissing noise no changes in the rpms.
The tensioner does not have to go in a certain way right?
HELP!
