i have a 96 ohv 2.2l i have 207,000 miles carruns good but at higher rpms you can hear a knock sounds like its coming toward the top of engine noy a clicking like a lifter but a knock. let me know what you guys think. only does it in nuetral at high rpm or 1st and 2nd at higher revs and a little in 3rd none in 4th or 5th . any ideas or thoughts ae appreciated.
maybe engine support thats all i can see
unfortunatly it could be piston slap. im not sure but if its a knock at the top of the engine it could be piston slap, bad wrist pin or even a rod knock that sounds like top end noise. good luck!
well it only does it when engine is warm . when its cold it quiet. idk if that makesany difference. it sounds like its coming from the cylinder second closest to the alternator. sounds like from the front part of the valve cover to not the back i have a stethascope so im trying to be as informative as possible. let me know if any of that narrows it down even a little.
i have an update today while drivning home i shifted from 1st to 2nd moderatly hard acceleration. the engine hiccuped and now the knock is alot worse. doesnt do it at idle or when revved high (or atleast dont hear it) but its very noticable at about 2500rpms -3000rpms. i notice more when im letting off the gas then getting on it and its defiently loudest at 2500rpm just held there. is it a rod? or what? how hard you guys it would think it would be to fix? thanks.
