2nd Gen. Fuel Pump Replacement?
Friday, April 01, 2011 1:29 PM
So, my 2nd Gen. Z24 has been bogging down when I accelerate for the last few months. It would also occasionally stall out and then not restart until after it sat for at least 45 minutes. I tried all the routine maintenance stuff (new plugs, all new filters, etc...) but the problem remained. Finally a couple days ago I went to start it after it had been sitting for hours (which is not normally an issue) and it ran for maybe 2 seconds and died. Now it wont restart at all.

I've been trying to read everything I could find on similar issues and it seems like the culprit is either a bad fuel pump (which is what I'm thinking) or possibly a crankshaft position sensor. Anyway, I was just curious if anyone else had experienced a similar problem and how they fixed it. Also, if I do need to replace the pump, is there any feasibility to the cutting a hole instead of dropping the tank method?

Thanks for the help!
