Over the winter I have been losing a gross amount of oil. We're talking a quart in two weeks or better. Nothing on the ground, rear seal is good, no burn (doenst smoke blue at all). Upon removal of the tuner port, there was a light deposit of oil around it, when I changed the oil and looking from the bottom the intake seam to head has a light deposit of oil on it. I have changed my oil as it was needed two weeks ago and there has been no oil loss since.
I have been made away or 2 situations and wondering if anyone else has confirmation on them?
1. Engines prone to piston slap until warmed up. I have had a lot of cold starts and runs (block heater used) but still takes a bit up to temp. That it was burning off (although i've never seen it) until the engine warmed up and sealed? Combined with older oil? 5000km ran synthetic. As the temp here has greatly warmed up the issue is seasonal??
2. Swapping Mineral to Synthetic to Mineral Im told is fine, but back to Synthetic causes the problem. I have only had synthetic since i've had it but im at least the 3rd owner so it may have happened. The problem im told this causes is, I didnt catch the whole thing, oil is being forced back down the intake valves and showing up inside the air box? Anyone else heard of this issue, the guy who told me about it had this problem and this is what he was told. Also told no way to fix but new engine, although I dont see how new valve seals wouldnt fix.
