Alright so i started my car today and went to school. Forgot something at home so i started it again. Started up weird, started shaking really bad and idling really rough. Also it felt like the steering and brakes went out cause i couldnt stop much or turn much. But before i stopped i gave it a little gas and it bogged down and i heard a ticking noise. So i slammed on the brakes and shoved it into park. It kept reving so i shut it off. Sat there for about 5 minutes started it and it did it again so i shut it off. Started it one more time and it started fine and drove fine but still it bogged down after second gear and i heard a ticking noise from the exhaust. Idk what wrong does anyone have an idea?? please
Pull the spark plug cover, and inspect the white housing to see if there is any cracks in it (common issue with the 2.4's causing a rough idle and sometimes a misfire) if not could have a bad coil pack or spark plug. Also look at the bottoms of the boots for a white soot of sorts, if there is any, then it means they need to be replaced since there arching. Good luck
Okay thanks I appreciate the reply. Ill check it out today. But where exactly is the spark plug cover? Sorry im kinda new here.

they are under the idi cover(one that says quad 4) our engine does not use spark plug wire. the coil sits right on top of the plug . make sure when you put it back together you clip the boot into the top of the cover. i didn't one time and i caused a misfire so i took it apart again clipped the boots in properly and misfire went away.
yeah thats what i think happened to me because i was messing with that cover to other day
