it seems to slipp or shift and then down shift going into 4th gear over drive. Almost like a feels like a double shift. I have a flex alite trans cooler and a bmshift plus on the car that i havent been putting on. I also changed the pan filter cuz it was badly dented and the fluid i didnt flush the transmission i think theres atleast 175k on the transmission. I drove it about 2 miles down a stretch tonight it seemed to do that double shift thing and then on the way home it shifted perfect donnno... on the way to work and back 40 miles,yesterday was really bad i didnt drive the car today before tonight
its a 97 z24 im thinking maybe change the iat and the map sensors donno no codes but i do get a p440 code once and a while which is polutions i think..
the P0440 code is an EVAP code, most likely the gas cap.
as for your shifting, how long has it been since you changed the fluid since this started, do you know what your trans temps are? the trans likes a certain amount of heat, and it really sounds like the fluid is a bit low. I'd check the level first. drive the car around teh block a time or two to warm it all up. then check the level at eh plug, be sure its running when you do or you'll just get fluid all over and not know if the level is correct.
the fluid is at proper level to factory specs its been about 3 days transmission worked perfectly on monday and saturday 2 not so good tuesday and tonight,
you cant check the fluid level on a 4t40e theres a plug u fill it up unbolt the plug and the excess fluid drains out...
i donno if i left this out i changed the pan filter and the fluid in the pan
The plug on top of the transmission or cap is to fill the fluid and there is another plug under the transmission on passenger side where you check the correct level.
well seems like 4th gear is totally gone wont go more then 60 and even then slipping horribly
