Hello,
I just replaced the sway bar links on my Cavalier since they were making noise. I had tightened down one side while the car was in the air (suspension not loaded). I had no noise during driving after the install. Now a few days later I'm having noises again. I found that one of the sway bar links was loose so I tightened it up just with the wheels on. The noise has been reduced but is still there slightly since I could not tighten properly. Why are they coming loose?
Make sure to torque to 71 ft. lbs.
I assume it loosened up because it was never properly tightened, OR the bushings settled, which gave more room to allow the nut to loosen. What brand did you use?
Ya loctite is good on those parts being that they vibrate a lot and what not, shjould do final torque after the suspension is loaded.
71 ft lbs is not correct..
Tighten the nut until the nut meets the end of the bolt threads for torque value then tighten the nut to 13 ft lbs.
You might need some lube on the bushings if they are squeaking.Make sure to use a nylon lock nut.
Whoops - wasn't paying attention when I typed that. Mixed up the 1 and 7, as well as ft.lbs and NM
17 NM or 13 ft lbs.
Fail.
What kind of noise do loose sway bar links make? Is it a rattle when hitting bumps?

^ it makes a noise like a horse galloping on concrete. LOL
I tightened it and it went away , however I will remove the wheel to get at it better to tighten it. I am using a moog link kit.
Mastinenn, your noise is probably bad strut mounts.
