Need mechanic help P0171 code
Friday, May 13, 2011 8:10 AM
Need some help from the mechanics on here. I have a 96 cavalier it is running rough and has a p0171 bank 1 lean code. I have checked for vacuum leaks, checked plugs and wires but doesn't act like a normal miss-fire. What should the fuel trim read? I am not sure what the injector resistance should be on this either, I know they had 2 different ones, a low impendence and a high impendence depending on year.

96 cavalier, 2.2 ohv motor, 3spd auto trans.

Thanx for any help I'm kinda stumped right now

Change your 02 sensor at the manifold. Don't use a bosch 02 sensor.

I ended up having a weak fuel pump that led to this. Check your pressure if you haven't already.

I can get your injector specs monday if nobody else can.

Fuel pump/filter would also do this as well, and 02 sensor. We have a goofy side-feed injector.

Impedences.

Thanks for the injector specs. I'll check them this weekend. According to the scan tool the O2 sensor readings look good. What is the best way to check fuel pressure since it doesnt have a test port?
