Ignition Coil Question
Wednesday, May 18, 2011 3:49 PM
I have a 1997 Cav 2.2L and the 1-4 coil has gone bad (severe misfire). My work can't get it for a long while (Backorder) and I need something. I have a parts car with a perfect runing engine, but it's a 2001 Cav with the 2200, not the 2.2L. Does anyone know if the coils are the same? I just wanna take the ones off my 01 2200SFI and put it on my 97 2.2L. The coils on the 97 are behind the engine and I'm a biig guy. I don't feel like crawling under there more that once. lol

A 2200 cc motor is the same as a 2.2 L motor.
1 cc (cc means cubic centimeter)= 0.001 L

Hopefully they didn't change anything from model year 1997 to 2001. I suppose a coil would still be a coil, right?

I just checked on eBay, they appear to be the same from model years 1997 to 2002 (cavalier) as one retailer has posted.
