Intake question?
Monday, May 16, 2011 7:44 PM
I have a 97 2.2 ohv sunfire and i was wondering if anyone has ever ran their intake down behind the headlight..i was looking the other day and noticed that there is a 2in or so hole between the washer fluid bottle and the battery and i got to thinking that maybe i could mod my intake to go in behind my headlight to get it away from the header and battery..id just like to kno what kind of results u had and any suggestions

they make them for the 2200(2.2's from 98-02), and you just have to cut the top part to fit our older 2.2s

some say that's a bad idea becuase when pvc heats up, it emits something like a chemical or i forget the term, but my friend is running one from pvc and never had a problem...just something you might wanna look into before trying, but like i said, my friend never had a problem with it

yea, i was thinking that pvc may heat up but not hot enough to burn...but i kno people that have pvc intakes with no problem also..but if u think of it the regular intakes have rubber couplers and rubber around the filter where it attaches and that doesnt burn or heat up to melting point so i dont see a problem with pvc

Depends how close to the engine it is. The filter is far enough it wont heat up much, and couplers are usually made of silicone, which is pretty much heat resistant.
