Blower motor help

Ok, so the other day I decided that I wanted to fix my blower motor. It hasnt worked since I did the 00+ swap in the car and I can't remember if it worked prior to that. Anyways, here's the deal

Took the motor out itself, gave it power and ground from the battery, and she started spinning. Awesome.

Next I checked the wires at the relay. There's an orange wire that goes to a 30A fuse that has power all the time. There's a brown wire that gets power when I turn the system on, a black wire that has a good ground as I volt metered it to the battery, and a purple wire that is supposed to power the motor. Now while I was testing this, I wasn't seeing any sort of indication that it was working, so I figured there was a problem with this wire somewhere in the car. So I ran a test. I spliced into this purple wire at the relay and then ran it to the motor...still nothing. So then I disconnected that and tried a different approach. I used a wire from the purple wire at the motor, and ran it to a pink wire under the dash (pink is hot in run in jbodys). Low and behold it works! Turn car on, blower comes on, turn car off, blower turns off. Great. Now I have another problem. I have no controls as to where I want the air to come out of.

So, I'm gonna tackle it some more tmrw, but if anyone has any ideas, feel free to lend a hand lol

P.s here's a schematic from the Haynes manual
