So I want to change my AC compressor but the tensioner will not release...any ideas how to fix this? I have a 2.4L also if that helps
Well, I'm not familiar with the 2.4L set up, but can you just remove the alternator & let the belt come off that way? Then you need to figure out what's going on with the tensioner, but at least the belt will be off. Good luck.

yeah i was, i found out that when i would release tension it would stay released...so i replaced it as well
i too had to replace my belt tensioner, mech said it had foozen up and wouldnt come off.
