Fubar'ed 5 speed trans, 03 ecotec

My buddy either lost his clutch complexity or something in side his trans let go. His 03 cav is stuck in second. The shift cables are fine and the shifter moves from 1-2, but the car is stuck in second. It also has no neutral. If the clutch is in the car will not move, but if clutch is released it engages second. The cables try to move to the right, but will not allow the car to go into any other gear. Any need of advice would be great!

Anyone have anything related for sale near northeast Ohio let me know.

Sounds like the pin on top of the shifter brackets (at the tranny, on the outside of the tranny) broke. I have had this happen. Not to bad to replace, but have to have a replacement.

I'd pull the center consol and check if the cables are still connected to the actual shifter. When i first bought my car, it was sloppy as hell going left to right, and only had 3rd and 4th gear no matter how far left or right it was, up was 3rd and down was 4th. Cable fell off, takes 2 minutes to pull it, might aswell check it out.

If you have someone shift the car while looking at the top of the tranny where the cables connect. You should be able to tell it the shaft going into the tranny is actually moving or not.

I was able to do this on my own by moving the shifter at the tranny and I noticed only where the cables connected was moving, but no noise inside the tranny.

John, you were right buddy, but it was the end inside the trans that broke.

Also, a piece fell into the trans and @!#$ up a shift fork.
