I have a lifter tick, and want to replace my lifters. So i figured i would just do the head gasket and replace my lifters, are they easy to come out? just pull out or is there a tool i need, same for install? thanks.
how bad if the tick? every 2.2, ive heard has ticking rattling annoying noises. I get worried when mine gets quiet thats how I know its broke. lol. seriously though if it runs good I wouldnt mess with it youll get it all done and itll still tick after a little while anyway
Runs great just ticks, seems to go away under higher rpm's.
How many miles on youre motor?. Thats a true fact 2.2 ohv do have a a noticeable ticking sound in the top end when these engine get older. My 01 cavy 2.2 ohv has 260,000k on the motor it ticks a bit.
wouldn't worry about itll run like that forever
No offense Dakota, but you were asking how to change out bushings, I wouldn't be giving advice on engines.
yea dick im not much on suspensions I do know a fair amount about.engines though not only that I ask stuff on.here that I already know just to learn a new way or a differet way.to look at it. besides that can you say im wrong? they all tick every single 2.2 I've ever heard sounds like @!#$ and runs good. you really need to work on not being such an ass but it kinda seems like its your nature.
I said no offense, so you shouldn't get so upset. I'm just stating, it doesn't seem like your an auto tech or that you build cars all day, so don't go giving advice on stuff that may want to get checked out, especially if the OP has questions about how to fix a problem, I'm sure he would rather have fixable solutions then dont worry about it.
Getting back to the original Q, once you remove the head & valve train, the lifters are easy to get to. There are just 2 retainers (each holds 4 lifters) above each side. Held in w/a 10 mm bolt if I remember right. Once you take them out, you should be able to just pull out the lifters w/a magnet or needle nose. I think you probably want to "pump" your new lifters in some clean oil before installation (at least that's what I was told).
Its true that a lot of these engines tick though, but its your engine & $$$ so its your call.
