bad strut?
Sunday, July 10, 2011 7:18 AM
i have an 04 sunfire that lowered on goldine lowering springs and key struts. one in a while is seems as if the rear drivers side saggs a bit, but its weird becasue sometimes it will sit super low (tires almost tucked) and the other times it sits at it's normal height for the spring height (not sagging).

i've replaced the strut mount and i just took a look at the old strut today and compared it to the brand new one i bought. The tention in the center post is the excat same as the new one. It takes the same amout of pressure to push it down (feels the same anyways) and when i push both center post down at the same time (old and new) they come up at the same rate and hit there full extention at the same time.

is it still possible that my strut is blown?? or is there something else i should be looking at?

that's still your problem then. kyb agx's aren't warrantied if dropped more than 1.5"

when i spoke with kyb thru email about the gr2's they're only warrantied if they're dropped up to/or less than 1.3".

goldline's are what? 1.7" drop all around?

either way, according to kyb that's considered "excessive lowering" and none of their struts are designed to go that low.

oh i knew that, and yes goldline is a 1.7 drop.

whats puzzling me though is that theres no play in the strut at all, it acts the same as the brand new one, and there is no leaking of any fluid what so ever......... just really confused more then anything as to why it would sag and then not sag.

just because it's not leaking fluid does not mean it isn't bad....
