seems there is great debate for some reason ( not sure why), but wouldnt it be pretty easy to just grab a 99 ecu slap her in, the remove egr, and just change the injector wiring? and install 2 wire knock sensor? sorry I have been reading up on it as my 99 is going to stay off the road as they deemed it non-road legal(stupid canada lol), and I am going to be buying a 98 Z24 un bastardized, in which I should be able to use my 99 cluster as well I believe, but I don't want to lose my tune OR retune my 98 ecm, as GM dealerships are crooks, they will not touch ecu unless its replacing with same one, so I don't want to get stuck with a cell, figured I can get the 98 to run my engine I should be fine, but injectors, I aready put money into them, so would like to retain them, I have a whole 99 parts car, but dont want to pull out ALL the wiring if I don't have to

it seems like a lot of work, why was your car deemed not road legal? was it the tune?
There are a lot of slight differences now that I "just" redid an entire 99 auto z engine harness. It isn't completely like the 98.
I would start the swap over. Honestly you going to fine a few. What the hells, but it should workout fine in the end.
if you have HPTuners you can tune off any check engine lights, and remove everything about the EGR system.
