We had one of those massive "haboobs" (lol) in phoenix a few weeks ago as most of you might have heard about. So last night after an oil change i decided to clean my air filter. wow was it DIRTY from that dust storm. it is a k&n rechargeable filter.
Anyways, I oiled it up and I put it back on and a few hours later took a trip to the store. When I turned the air conditioning on while still in the driveway the rpms jumped from idle to about 1900, stayed there for 5 seconds or so, then very slowly dropped back down to idle, about 600rpm. Not only was this happening, but when driving down the road and accelerating to 50mph or so and then letting off of the throttle the rpms would not fall back down to near idle like it used to, even after braking to like 30mph. So when I would then let off the brakes the car would speed up again on its own because the rpms were so high, which obviously causes need for more brake pressure to be applied to slow down than usual.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! It is a 2005 automatic sunfire, 73xxx miles, and the k&n intake is the only sort of "mod" that has been done.
Thanks!
