Hey, I've got a 95 Cavalier 5-speed coupe that's having a rather puzzling electrical issue. As of right now, the brake lights and blinkers (both external and dash indicators) do not work, nor do the hazards. I haven't had a chance to really begin troubleshooting yet, but I'm leaning toward ruling out a fuse. Any other suggestions?
Seems I was partly wrong. Brake/hazard was a blown fuse, but blinkers and backup do not work even after replacing that fuse (it checked out but I replaced it just to be sure). Any ideas?
This probably isn't your problem but might be a good idea to check for corrosion in the sockets. Replace sockets and bulbs if necessary. Easy fix if that is the problem maybe 20 bucks to get two new sockets from dealer. Mine were all gunked up and the dash indicators blinked double speed, so again probably not your problem. somebody else will know more...

Well your blinkers and hazzards are the same thing so are you sure that one or the other is/isn't working? As for the backup light, check the switch on transmission. Not sure where it is on yours.. mine was on the top/front side of trans. They go bad after a while.. just need replaced. to be sure you can just unplug it and jump the two wires and see if your backup lights come on that way. It was like 13 dollars when I got mine at the parts store, if you look online you could get it cheaper i'm sure.
When I turn on the hazards, the lights blink and the dashboard indicators work. Neither of those happens when I use the blinkers. I'm taking a voltmeter to the car today to see if I can't pinpoint a problem here. Right now I'm leaning toward it being the turn signal flasher and the backup lamp switch.
