Crankshaft, camshaft position sensors
Sunday, September 18, 2011 4:48 PM
My 2000 Sunfire 2.2 was hesitating when it started( two days) and the check engine light came on, I pulled the codes out and it came up crankshaft position sensor and camshaft position sensor. My starter died which I replaced and when I tried to replace the sensors I couldn't reach the sensors. I tried from underneath but there's noway I can get my arms in to reach the sensors, I tried taking the air intake and fuel rail bracket to reach it from the top but that was no go. The car is running now but the check engine light isn't coming on and it's not hesitating when it starts. Should I replace the sensors and if so how do I get to them to replace them.

I would get the codes cleared and see if they come back.

i just replace the crank sensor in my 99 3 spd auto................for a 9 dollar part it sure was a pain.............took about two hours. best was is to make yourself small, i ended up cutting up both my arms and hands getting it in but you can do, from underneath. you'll need a really long 1/4 in drive extension, a long, long flat screwdriver and a lot of patience.........plugging it back in will be the hardest part......i wish you the best
