ok so like im trying to figure out a top end noise only on a cold start/ early drive. usually ill let her run for ab a minute or two and go to head to work. there is about a 6 mile stretch at 35 mph and to me ot sounds like one or two of my lifters are raising hell. as i get to the end of the stretch and go to turn for a 12 mile highway ride shes normal litlle tick/ rattle normal ln2 noise idk what it could be failing/ collapsed lifter? and i might be mistaken but these are roller lifters? 1997 cavy 2.2l auto

MEAN & GREEN.
As far as i know they all have that tick...iv owned a 2200 and a 2.2 ohv and they both did it, mine usually quiets down after a fresh oil change...
normal for these motors, ive also had a few that do it....in the winter i just let it warm up and it goes away
If it aint ticking and rattling it aint running. It could be worn lifters you may give the timing area a good listen to. Could be a worn tensioner in the timing chain that's sorta common to
My '94 has the all to common tick and starts to run warmish at red lights, another common trait. My '99 on the other hand is quiet as a mouse and runs cool as a fan even when sitting in traffic, it'll probably be the motor that blows
