hey there

i am planning on buying a 01 cavalier 2.2 5-speed and i was told that its a little hard shifting into FIRST gear ?? i know that not normal, is it something serious like the gear box gone? or the clutch getting bad? or something like the shifter cable not working like it should? i don't want to buy a car that all i am gonna have is trouble and cant move anywhere.

help me out guys.

pull it down into second, then it will slide right in. they all do this for some reason AFAIK.

common problem? so i dont have anything to worry about?

mine does same...press clutch, go to second, then right up to first....then let out the clutch and drive

Its normal. For some reason it does it and you have ot go into 2nd to get into 1st easy.

my 03 eco with getrag does it...

I drove a similar 03 to mine the other day and it was a world of difference. Kinda sucks. I'm also a victim of the bee clutch.
