Okay, i've got a 99 z24 and the theft system went on and won't let my car start, so i asked a friend of mine and he said he knows for sure that you can take a camaro into the dealership and they can take the theft system completely off, so i asked the dealership if they'd do that for mine and they said no that it is wired in and can't come out....is this true? or does anyone on here know how i can get it takin off and i already tried to let the car sit for 15min. with the acc's on and try it that way and that didn't work either.....any opinions or faqs?

NEW SIG COMING SOON FOR 07'!!!

yeah there isnt really a way to shut off our theft system , youll have to have a dealer check it out to find out why the theft is triped

unfortunatly , alot of smaller shops wont have the tools needed to test the theft system

start the car and let it shut off by itself. leave the key to the on position and let it sit for about ten minutes. This should reset the theft system in the computer.

That happened to a Grand Am at Vo-Tech (2.4 5speed 2001 pretty sweet) anyways, we just used the code scanner and in stored codes it had 'Theft system set' or somthing like that but I just cleared the code and it started right up..... I dunno if that helps or not....

Have you had any other problems with the car recently.? Like the gauges going haywire or anything out of the ordinary.

I am having the same issue, happened a few months ago and after clearning the codes ran perfect until this morning when it started doing it again. From what my mechanic said it probably needs a new ECU, anyone having or have had a similar issue? I guess I could clear the codes again but it will eventually catch up to me.

I bought my cavy about 4 months ago and had the same problem. My uncle works for GM and helped me out. The previous owner had locked his keys in the car and when AAA had got into the car the theft system locked up both the car and the radio. This is what you do..

1. Turn the key to the ON position but do not start the car. Wait ten minutes until the light flashes and turns off.
2. Turn the key off but do not take the key out.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 two more times.
4. Now turn the key to the ON postion. The light may still be there but so are all the other lights.
5. Start your car.

If this process doesn't work, email me letting me know that it didn't and i'll ask my uncle.
Hope it works.
