I have a 1995 z24 and i just installed a new long block. everything was working fine but now until about 2000 rpm the car stutters when i give it gas after that it runs fine. smooth at idle.any ideas? thanks
Might be a dead spot in your TPS
I doubt its your TPS. That's a shot in the dark.
I'd start by confirming all of your vacuum connections/routing. It's easy to forget just one.
just checked the vacuum lines and they all seem okay. ive heard that the coil pack can begin to fail i might take a look at that next
crankshaft postion sensor variation relearn?? Don't know if its applicable to a 1995...anyone??
misread the original post...can't be crank variation learn
Stupid question, but sometimes it's important. Did you put new plugs and boots in?
All the sensors properly hooked up and tight? nothing loose?
Even if all the vacuum hoses (what? 2 I think?) are good and connected, you should check for a vacuum leak with a tester. It will negate a lose in vacuum instead of just kind of guessing.
Check all your grounds too. Even a poor but connected ground could cause many problems.
If thats all good, then yeah you'll be looking at a possible component failure.
no new boots they seemed fine... ill check the grounds and sensors next. its tough with an OBD1 cant find anyone who can read a code i figure that would help a bit.
It would help actually, but i believe the 95 cavi's were actually a OBD I 1/2. I could be wrong, but I think they are. Basically, that means you can use an OBD2 reader to read some codes, but not all. You could give it a shot. I believe the OBD2 connector is used in the 95's, which theoretically would make it an OBD I 1/2. Worth a shot anyway.
Hmm that would help I took it to advance and I said it was a 95 they said it wouldn't work. I've heard that before though is there a way I can check? Do you know if the obd ports are different? Thanks
a OB2 reader will read it i had a reader hooked up to my 86 camaro and it read the codes fine and you should be able to Blink code them your self by Jumping the AB termanials but not sure cause that was the way it was on my camaro a little diffrent systems and have you found out what the problem is cause i have the same problem it stumbles when i take off from a dead stop some times and i notice a lack in power under 2000 rpms at any speed and gear but mine only dose it when it gets to temp and its Intermediate the only thing i have done to it was got a radiator put in it cause i cracked the old one so it runs the right temp know and i got rid of the a/c any help would be welcomed
autozone read my 98 just fine, Idk if or when they had a different interface installed however
I Found my problem the other day it was a vacum leak to the map sensor now it runs like a champ might check the map sensor with a known good one and check the wires for it to.
